@ jaleel--> Java is more focussed (API wise) towards minimizing resource consumption. Resource could be memory, processing power or hard disk.
Soo its Best :em69:

I like PHP but only cause I haven't learnt anything else yet! This automatic scrolling is crazy, I don't think it's your keyboard, the styles *age was doing it for me for no understandable reason, this *age is scrolling for lower case letter between o and q :-) I'm on a Mac

well as the rest said, it really does depend on what you wanna produce. I dont believe ASP and JAVA are the only languages suited for "many" Users... in fact many big corporate sites are build on phyton, php and perl.

PHP is definetly the most portable and easy to setup language, as 95% of the servers support it natively.

I see ASP/NET strength in coporate Intranets which are mainly build around a Windows Server infrastructure, so pluggin in .NET or a sharepoint server is quick and allows instant User Authorisation via LDAP.

I dig the poll - try quibblo.com out next time! They let you customize your color themes - very slick.

I voted PHP, because that is more well-known and much faster than Ruby on Rails (/ Ruby). Rails seems to be a very interesting project though, and I'll be dabbing in and out of it from time to time.

Also, this may be my keyboard, but pressing a lowercase P on your site scrolls it up and down (I'm copying and pasting all these).

I think it totally depends on what your needs and immediate resources are. For me, I work in a M$ driven shop - so .Net is the best for my needs: but nearly anything can be accomplished one way or another with any of the server-side languages, its just how to implement them. Good question, but a bit biased-per-pollster. Its definitely an opinion based poll.
