swfIR is a new Flash replacement technique that replaces and adds visual effects to images on the fly using simple JavaScript. It’s similar to the the popular Flash text replacement technique, sIFR. You can, without physically editing an image, set borders, shadows, alpha transparencies, blurring, rotation and more to any image on your website. Pretty neat! (via Mike Davidson)

Buddystumbler allows you to search for new friends with similar interests. If you find someone you’d like to be friends with, and they in turn want to be friends with you, you exchange IM sign-on names.

Once you’ve created a simple profile with some details about you, you can then have specific searches for the type of people that you are looking for. If you find someone that you like, you can then ask to be their buddy. The same process applies if someone wants to be your buddy. With buddystumbler, users can also communicate and give their personal approval on each other’s profiles.
You can give compliments to your buddies in the form of high fives and also general posts called shout outs, both which show up on their profiles.
