Wooo! Finally we are on dfGallery 2.0. We now commit to you that this gallery will be one of the coolest Free Flash Galleries. v1 with 200,000+ downloads was the hottest topic on our site and we hope to see a lot with this too. This is just the alpha release and we expect lots of feedback to get this to its best possible..
The reason for this gallery to be cool is not just its UI but the way it is built and architected. We have an amazing theme engine built to support custom themes with multiple skins for each. The administration console built on CodeIginter lets you manage multiple galleries and albums of different types.
Soon we will have a dedicated section on the site where the community can contribute themes and skins. Till then enjoy this beautiful work by us :)

Forget about modifying dfgcode.
To get round the invalid Curl and other errors and get this old code working, . INSTALL PHP5 V5.2.XXX OR LESS. ensure Extension Curl is enabled in php.ini, and LoadModule Mod Rewrite is uncommented (enabled) in Apache http.config file. Any other errors that get thrown at you - and there will be some - just do as they ask.
If you are using WAMP or any other whizz banguptodate server software, uninstall them, go to Codeforge website and look for the Archived Wamp downloads and choose a version from the year 2008.
DO NOT JUST DOWNLOAD THE LATEST VERSION. It will not work with dfgallery.
So I have used DF Gallery 1 and it works great, only wish it was customizable. So because of that I have attempted to use DF Gallery 2.0, but have been thwarted by the Invalid cURL problem. I have found a work-around to allow me to login, which is commenting Line 113 & 114 in the install.php. But apparently because of the error and the bypass it refuses to show my pictures. I have tried Flickr, Picasa and a custom album but to no avail.
I have mod_rewrite enabled along with every other requirement of this gallery. I have tried every "fix" on these pages and nothing works. As much as I would love to use this gallery, I have to give it a FAIL for it's functionality, as it has none. Some creator support would be great, as to maybe find a fix that will help out the many people who want to use this.
This is a great slideshow that DF has released for free use out there on the net. As such, we really don't have a right to complain about any shortcomings. However, there are only a few small tweaks that would need to be done in order to make this a real production ready application-- I really like the idea of a sql based slideshow, and this would be a great tool for pro photographers, designers, etc. Why not release the source for the .swf under GPL and allow the community to develop this tool further so we can actually use it? There are some customizations that are needed but the development effort would be small with great rewards. I currently use slideshowpro.net because dfgallery is missing a few little tweaks that make me not able to use it. The interface for SSpro.net is proprietary and I had to write my own XML generator to be able to use it on a larger scale. The implementation is cloogy and not fun, especially when new elements are released.. This tool has a great foundation and we would love to improve on it.. Release it under GPL and let us fork it to our heart's content!!
Had trouble installing this to a site that was password protected with htaccess. Had to open the site up to get curl to work. No big deal.
Then had trouble with a navigation bar that wanted to overlap the flash window. Easy Fix.
add
inside the object code and wmode="transparent" to your embed code.
Then I wanted multiple users. So I added them manually to the database. Works great until you want to view another users gallery. That gallery will not load until you log out completely or your session dies. Made no sense to be coded that way but that's the way it is. Logged in sessions should be ignored when viewing an embeded gallery.
Great Job on this! Exactly what I was looking for!
help! I'm getting this: Invalid cURL response.
We expected 'true' from the url : http://www.phoebelim.host56.com/testgallery/api/rest/test_curl
what does this mean?
many thanks in advance :)
Is it possible to set up this gallery so it would just read the image locations from an XML file?
Hello,
Thanks for this excellent free web app. Great work.
Like many others I am unable to get the 'pause at startup' option to properly work. Is this a future feature that has not yet been implemented?
Also, is there a way to 'hide' the thumbnails initially? I looked through the skin and theme XML properties files and could not find a parameter. Just wondering if I am missing something obvious.
Also, for those of you experiencing the cURL or other installation errors check the other suggestions first. However, it seems that the CodeIgniter PHP framework the author uses for the admin interface is not compatible with PHP 5.3. When i downgraded to PHP 5.2 the install worked flawlessly (no cURL errors either). CodeIgniter does have a 5.3 update but I'm not sure which files to overwrite in the dfGallery package. Just something for the author to look into as a lot of hosts will be probably be upgrading to PHP 5.3 within the next weeks and months.
Anyway, thanks for a great gallery. Keep up the good work.
Looks like an awesome program but the install video is silent and sped up, hence, doesn't work. Can you give me the install basics? Any documentation? Thx for yur generousity!
Dude love what you guys are doing :)
Thank you so so much
Everything checks out on the installer (inc curl loaded) but I still get the following curl error:
A curl error occured while checking for clean urls.
URL : http://DOMAIN/api/rest/test_curl
cURL message :
Notice the message was blank...
I've read multiple suggestions but not seem to work.
Hosting on heartinternet. Has anyone been able to bypass curl issue this yet?
Cheers
