Rebuilding dfgallery 2 after server crach...

I thought I'd add a thread here in case anyone runs into issues similar to me. I'd etail out what I've come across so far and hopefully others can help with what they know as well.

My ISP had a disk falure and my system was lost. I did have an old backup but it doesn't look like I had all the files I needed.

To add to my issues my IP address has changed to.

What I did...

restored httpd.conf  (fixed IP address location)

restored /var and subdirectories.

upon surfing to mysite... all modules show as installed OK (no curl errors)

surfing to sysite/dfg brings up login screen but upon succesful login I get a blank screen

I'm not sure if the dfgallery database still exists (or the location it was originally installed to via the install scripts) ???

My pages with the cut/pastes embedded code ALL have hard coded IPs and will need to be changed manually.

If anyone has any suggestions for how to restore a dfgallery2 system please let me know otherwise I will backup and install a fresh system but will have to reload all my images in again.

Some more notes (but not quite there yet)...

When reviewing the original video I noticed one of the install pages you can access directly:
mysite/dfg/admin/setup
when accessing this page I learned that I needed to delete everything from the database.php file and ensure it was writable (chmod 777). I believe that config.php should also be make writable again.

When hitting the setup page I now find that all the pre-requisites are made but for some reason I can not successfully connect to the mysql database shell I've created (with ANY user account I try). Again, I'm left with a blank white page upon form post. Checking the database confirms that no tables have been added.
